Jerusalem in July: 88 injured, 188 arrested, and extensive measures to Judaize the city

A report published by Europeans for al-Quds showed that the Israeli occupation forces wounded 88 citizens, and arrested 188 others during large-scale attacks carried out in the occupied city of Jerusalem last July.

In its monthly report, which documents the violations of the occupation in Jerusalem, the Foundation said that the Israeli occupation forces continued their violations in the city of Jerusalem in an attempt to threaten the Palestinian presence in the city through intensive Judaization measures.

According to the report, the occupation forces committed 864 human rights violations. At the forefront of these violations came arrests with a rate of 21.8%, followed by intrusions with 20.8%.

During the past month, the Israeli occupation forces continued to threaten the Palestinian presence in the city of Jerusalem through land settlement procedures. The report documented the registration of (40) homes inhabited by (45) Palestinian families in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood under the names of settlement associations without the knowledge of their owners.

The Israeli occupation authorities also canceled the licenses of (6) schools in Jerusalem, under the pretext of "inciting against the Israeli occupation in school textbooks."

The report documented (48) shooting incidents and direct aggression by the Israeli occupation forces in the neighborhoods of occupied Jerusalem, which resulted in the injury of (88) civilians, including women and children, in addition to the exposure of more than (26) others to direct beatings and abuse. In addition, more than (150) civilians suffocated in various accidents, especially in Silwan and Issawiya.

The report monitored (180) incursions into towns and neighborhoods of Jerusalem, during which the occupation forces arrested (188) citizens, including women and children, summoned (22) male and female citizens, and imposed house arrest on (21) others.

The Israeli occupation forces also carried out (16) demolitions, which resulted in the destruction of a residential building in Jabal Mukaber, a plant nursery in Al-Isawiya, a wall and a car wash in the Nabi Samuel area, a wall and facilities worth one million shekels in Anata, grazing lands in the Nabi Samuel area, and razing agricultural land in Al-Isawiya town. The occupation forces also distributed about (94) demolition orders and notifications, claiming that they did not have a license.

The report pointed out that the Israeli occupation seeks to impose a demographic change in the city of Jerusalem, and for that it employs all its governmental, political and security arms, and allows settlers and settlement associations to control the largest possible number of Palestinian properties in the city.

The report monitored (10) decisions in favor of establishing settlements, including establishing a sports center in Beit Hanina, a joint US-Israeli plan for the embassy in Jerusalem, promoting the establishment of 2,000 new settlement units, building a visitors center in the Batn al-Hawa neighborhood, a tender to build (83) settlement housing units in Givat Hamatos settlement, and excavations in Al-Buraq Square in the Mughrabi neighborhood to place an elevator near the Al-Buraq Wall.

The Israeli plans also include a plan to expand the Mughrabi Gate, through which Israeli incursions usually take place at Al-Aqsa Mosque, build (1,446) new settlement units in the lower canal settlement, opening a Jewish cultural center in Silwan, and unveil a new tunnel extending from the Ain Silwan to Wadi Hilweh, south of Al-Aqsa Mosque.

The report monitored (15) deportation decisions, half of which were expulsion decisions from Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Old City, the period of deportation ranged from two weeks to six months.

The Foundation documented (13) attacks carried out by settlers, and (18) storming operations at Al-Aqsa Mosque, where (3,265) settlers participated in storming Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Also, (46673) people under the title of "tourist" participated in storming the courtyards of Al-Aqsa Mosque from the side of the Mughrabi Gate under the protection of the Israeli occupation forces, while worshipers were prevented from entering Al-Aqsa Mosque during these tours.
