Israeli occupation authorities demolished on Tuesday afternoon the two-story apartment building of al-Rajabi family in the east Jerusalem district of Silwan, south of the Al-Aqsa Mosque.
According to local sources, bulldozers protected by a large number of Israeli police forces stormed Ein Luza neighborhood in Silwan, cordoned off the area where the building was located and knocked it down. The Israeli police forcibly removed members of the family from inside the building before the bulldozers demolished it.
The demolition measure led to the displacement of 30 members of the family of Rajabi , including children.
A few days ago, the Israeli municipality in the occupied city of Jerusalem notified the family of its intent to demolish the building, which contained five apartments, at the pretext of unlicensed construction.
The Jerusalemites have no choice but to build without licenses because there are no structural maps that respond to the natural increase in their numbers. Israeli occupation authorities also impose building restrictions on the Palestinian natives in Jerusalem and makes it hard for them to obtain construction licenses.
Israel’s systematic demolition of Palestinian homes in Occupied Jerusalem is believed to be aimed at psychologically destroying the Jerusalemite families in an attempt to force them to move from the holy city.
