Shocking reports reveal that the Israeli occupation authorities have deported approximately 877 Jerusalemites from Al-Aqsa Mosque, the Old City, and the city of Jerusalem during the first half of the current year, 2023.
According to the Wadi Hilweh Information Center, 516 deportation decisions were documented from the Old City of Jerusalem, with an additional 305 deportations from Al-Aqsa Mosque. The occupation forces have been targeting the deportees by confiscating their identities, photographing them, and subjecting them to physical assault, including pushing, beating, and arbitrary arrests.
The center further disclosed that seven Palestinians were killed by the occupation forces in occupied Jerusalem, while 1,798 others were arrested during the first half of the year. Among the detainees were 29 children under the age of 12, 409 boys, and 60 women, including four girls.
April recorded the highest number of arrests with 766 cases, followed by January with 255 cases, March with 230 cases, and February with 204 arrests.
Disturbingly, the occupation authorities arrested 23 students while they were on their way to school or returning home. Additionally, 27 Jerusalemites were transferred to administrative detention.
The human rights center reported that 16 cases involved the arrest of previously released prisoners, who were subject to various conditions, including deportation from Jerusalem, eviction from their places of residence, and prohibitions on celebrations and displaying flags and banners in the city.
Currently, 12 bodies of Jerusalemite martyrs are being held by the occupation forces. The violations against Al-Aqsa Mosque persist, with the occupation imposing sieges and restrictions on Muslim worshippers entering the holy site. Incidents of raids, arrests, and attacks on worshippers, particularly during the month of Ramadan, have escalated.
In the first half of this year, thousands of settlers, including ministers, Knesset members, senior rabbis, and Temple groups' leaders, carried out incursions into Al-Aqsa Mosque, performing prayers as they advanced through the compound.
The occupation's attacks during this period extended to the demolition or closure of approximately 96 homes in Jerusalem. Some homeowners resorted to demolishing their own properties to avoid paying fines and demolition fees to the occupation authorities.
Among the demolitions were four residential buildings, comprising 25 apartments and 56 houses, as well as commercial facilities, fences, rooms, and agricultural and animal shelters.
In a distressing act, the occupation authorities compelled Palestinians to remove the dome of Al-Rahman Mosque in a town, reducing its height and changing its color from golden to silver. This condition was imposed to prevent the demolition of the upper floor of the mosque and the dome.
