A report published by the Wadi Hilweh Information Center reveals that the Israeli occupation forces have killed 7 Palestinians and arrested 1,798 others in the occupied city of Jerusalem during the first half of 2023.
The report, which monitors the occupation's violations, highlights that among the detainees were 29 children under 12 years old, 409 boys, and 60 women, including 4 girls.
April recorded the highest number of arrests with 766, followed by January with 255, March with 230, and February with 204.
The occupation authorities conducted 23 arrests of students while they were commuting to and from their schools. Additionally, 27 Jerusalemites were subjected to administrative detention during the first half of the year.
The report also exposes 16 cases of detention of previously released prisoners, who were released on conditions such as deportation from Jerusalem, prohibition of celebrations, and restrictions on raising flags and banners in the city.
Furthermore, the number of bodies of Jerusalemite martyrs held in the occupation's refrigerators has reached 12.
In regard to the storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque, the occupation authorities continued their violations and attacks during the first half of the year. They imposed a siege, restricted the entry of Muslims, increased incursions, arrests, and attacks on worshippers, and raised Israeli flags, particularly during the holy month of Ramadan.
Thousands of settlers, including ministers, Knesset members, senior rabbis, and officials of alleged Temple groups, conducted incursions into Al-Aqsa Mosque and performed prayers along their path.
The report documents 877 deportation decisions from Jerusalem, the Old City, Al-Aqsa, residential areas, the streets of Jerusalem, and the West Bank. Among these decisions, 516 individuals were deported from the Old City, and 305 were expelled from Al-Aqsa Mosque.
The Wadi Hilweh Information Center recorded 96 demolitions or closures in Jerusalem, including 31 instances of "self-demolition" carried out by property owners to avoid fines and demolition fees imposed by the occupation municipality.
These demolitions included 4 residential buildings, comprising 25 apartments and 56 houses, as well as commercial establishments, fences, rooms, and agricultural and animal barracks.
In June, the occupation municipality forced residents of Beit Safafa town to remove the dome of the Rahman Mosque, reducing its height and changing its color from golden to silver, as a condition to prevent the demolition of the mosque's upper floor and dome.
